Good Questions, Honest Answers
Everything Jersey City neighbors usually want to know before their first visit — and if we missed one, just call.
What areas around Jersey City do you serve?
We're based in Jersey City (07302) and cover about a 15-mile reach. That includes every part of the city, from Paulus Hook, Van Vorst Park, Hamilton Park, Harsimus Cove and Newport downtown to Journal Square, McGinley Square, the Heights, the West Side, Bergen-Lafayette and Greenville, plus Hoboken, Bayonne, Union City, Weehawken, West New York, North Bergen, Secaucus and Kearny. Close to the edge of that range? Give us a call, since a fuller list usually makes the drive worthwhile.
Do you give free estimates?
Yes. Most jobs can be priced firmly from a few photos and a quick phone call. When a project is larger or harder to size up from photos, we'll come see it in person at no charge. In both cases the price is agreed on before a date is set.
Do you charge by the hour or by the job?
Whenever we can, we price by the job so you know the cost before we start. For open-ended punch lists we agree on a rate and a rough scope together so there are no surprises. If the work goes faster than expected, the final price reflects that.
Are your pros licensed and insured?
Yes. The work is done by insured local pros who hold the licenses and registrations required in New Jersey for the job at hand, so electrical and plumbing connections are handled by licensed tradespeople. Ask us anything before we start.
What kinds of jobs do you take on?
The everyday repair and upkeep list: drywall and plaster patching, door adjustments, TV and shelf mounting, furniture assembly, ceiling fans and light fixtures, dimmers and smart switches, faucet, toilet and disposal repairs and replacements, fence and gate repairs, gutter cleaning, pressure washing, paint touch-ups, garage and basement storage, smart home devices and seasonal maintenance. Send the whole list, even the small items, and we'll plan a single visit around it.
I live in a high-rise or co-op. Can you work with my building?
Yes, and it's a regular part of working in Jersey City. Towers in Newport, Exchange Place and around Journal Square usually want a certificate of insurance sent to management ahead of time, a freight elevator reservation and work within set weekday hours, and many co-ops need board or super approval for anything touching plumbing or wiring. Send us your building's requirements when you book, and we'll take care of the paperwork and plan the visit around them.
Can you get my house ready for winter and storm season?
Few visits pay off more for an older Hudson County house. In the fall we clean gutters and downspouts, check box gutters and cornice seams on row houses, re-caulk gaps around windows and trim, add weatherstripping to drafty doors, shut off and drain outdoor spigots, and look for spots where water is already getting into a wall or basement. Doing it in October beats finding the leak during a January nor'easter.
Can I text you a photo of the problem?
Please do. A couple of clear photos, one close up and one from farther back, plus a sentence about what's happening, is usually enough for us to understand the job and often to quote it firmly. Good photos also tell us which parts to bring, so one trip usually covers it.
How do I book, and how far out are you scheduled?
Ring us or fill out the contact form with your address and a sentence or two about the job. We'll confirm a real arrival window, not an all-day wait, and tell you if we're running behind. Smaller jobs can often fit in within the week; longer lists may take a bit more lead time so we can block enough hours to finish everything in one trip.
Got a list? Let's shorten it.
One quick call or text gets you a real price and a real arrival time — usually within the week.
